Bambara Teases Upcoming Mini Album With New Track “Birds”

The disc will be released next month, before their tour with IDLES.

Bambara tease their upcoming six-track mini album with a new track ‘Birds’.

It is a cut of ‘Love is on my mind’due out February 25 via Wharf Cat Records and followed by a supporting European tour with IDLES.

Let’s talk about the song, singer Reid Batah explains: “‘Birds’ compresses the events of several months into three and a half minutes, covering the moment when the couple we follow throughout the record come together. On the train, they fall asleep and wake up, reliving moments Then a childhood memory bubbles to the surface of the protagonist’s mind, revealing his complex relationship to the idea of love.”

Speaking about the mini-album, he continues: “The lyrics of Love on My Mind are a bit more personal, and definitely more vulnerable and human. The emphasis is more on realism. I think it was partly because I had focused on photography during the lockdown. Being in New York without being able to experience it made me seek out representations of what it’s like to run in the city. And I found this in pictures. Primarily, Nan Goldin’s Ballad of Sex Addiction. It also influenced the decision to make one of the characters in the story a photographer, showcasing bits of the story through his snapshots.
