Kenny Chesney Reveals He’s ‘Working’ On New Album: ‘I Recorded A Few Songs’

Kenny Chesney revealed he was working on a new album and already had “a few songs recorded” during a recent interview.

Chesney spoke with Audacity Katie Neel on his podcast Katie & Company for Superstar Power Hour, sharing that while he’s been working on new music, he doesn’t have “direction” yet.

Asked about the new music, Chesney replied: “I started off a little… I really don’t even know. I have a few songs recorded, but I have no direction. I have nothing. I’ve written for it, but it’s been very sporadic,” he explained. “We will slowly but surely work on new music. It’s always like that. You never stop doing that.

He continued, “We never stop working on [music], we never stop this process. At some point we’re gonna put out another record, I don’t know what kind of record, I don’t know where it’s going to lean, I just know it’s gonna be pieces of my life as always. We’ll… We’re constantly working on it.

Additionally, Chesney shared if there’s ever been a song he would have liked to write or record as well as if he’s ever passed on a song before.

“I think every artist has these songs, there’s a few that I don’t know that I passed on to them, but they’re just songs that I’ve heard and wish I had recorded,” said Chesney. “You know, Tracy Lawrence had a song called ‘Time Marches On,’ which is still one of my favorite songs. I love that song. I wish I had recorded that song. I wish I had recorded ‘Please Remember Me. ‘ by Tim McGraw, I would have liked to record ‘Springsteen’ by Eric Church… I don’t know, there are so many, there are so many good songs that I hear on the radio and say ‘ah, why don’t didn’t they send me this song?’ or “Why didn’t I write that song? You know what I mean? There’s so, I mean, there’s a lot of George Strait songs that I wish I had recorded, you know” Oceanfront Property’ or ‘The Chair’,” he added.

The Last Chesney Album published been Here and now in May 2020. The new album he is currently working on puts him on track for his 20th studio release.
